Can We Handle The Truth?

How is the economy these days? What is the status of the war with Iran? Do you believe in a representative democracy like ours? Do you believe in capitalism? Who won the 2020 election? Did some of our actions during the pandemic turn out to be unnecessary? Is every government program some sort of communism? Do you believe all religions are free to practice their faith in the USA?

Was the Lincoln Memorial reflecting pool refurbished badly? What is the proper name for the Democratic Party? Here's a hint, it's the Democratic Party. Should we insult our allies? Should we simply take over countries we dislike?

The answers to all these questions should be easy. But for some reason in this political climate they aren't. For the administration, the answers on the economy, the war, freedom of religion and more seem to be coming from some magic 8-ball in the Oval Office.

For instance, when it comes to our pluralistic society where you can practice any faith, or none, we clearly don't like some...

For the newly ascendant, for now, Democratic Socialists, if they have any hope of winning over majorities of voters, the answers about our system of government and basic economics should be easy as well. And, yes, the influence of money in our political system is far too great and should be curtailed. Otherwise, we'll get more really bad white guy dancing...

I mean, we've already had to live with this...

And, yes, they are right to advocate for a true national healthcare system like, oh, every other industrialized nation on the planet has. But hemming and hawing over simply loopy ideas like disbanding the Senate, cancelling Thanksgiving, closing prisons or whether America deserved the 9/11 attack are non-starters. But a clear answer seems elusive during interviews.

It makes Bill Maher and John Fetterman look like paragons of decisiveness and consistency.

As I wrote last week, I do wish Dr. Anthony Fauci had taken on that walking ode to fatuousness, Rand Paul, with direct and clear explanations for all the things that Rand and Tommy Tuberville will need to have explained with pictures. Again, in an unfolding crisis, Fauci and scientists all over the world were making their best judgements on prevention, and most of the worlds experts came to the same conclusions about gatherings, masks and such.

Since over 7 million people have died, I'd say their concern was more than justified. Oh, and how did it start? You might be surprised to learn, given the noise out there, that the majority of the world's epidemiologists still believe in the natural evolution theory. But this may be the only place you hear that, unless you look it up as I did.

But hey, thanks to Rand we did learn that Tony has an ego. An additional benefit was the whole Kabuki Theatre performance kept us from thinking about Epstein for a week, so there's that.

And now they want to hold Fauci in contempt. I am reminded of a line from Mae West during a hearing on indecency for one of her shows. When the judge asked if she was showing contempt for the court, she answered, "I'm trying to hide it."

How are the President's polls looking? Great, best ever according to him. Of course they are not but my saying that will have some commenter accusing me of TDS, Trump Derangement Syndrome, as though it's an actual diagnosis. But considering how many times he mentions Joe Biden and Barak Hussein Obama (can't leave out the Hussein) I think that's the actual fixation. But it's a convenient non-answer when you don't have an actual one.

Which brings us to the question no administration nominee or even elected GOP official can answer. Who won the Presidential election in 2020? Easy, right? I mean it was in all the papers. But given the rigged election fiction promoted for the last 6 years, they can't show any sign of independence by actually stating the truth.

And then there are the new ethics rules being considered in Congress for the crypto currency market. The Digital Market Asset Clarity Act amounts to a paper-thin bit of oversight framework that Republicans have cooked up, placing enforcement of cryptocurrency conflicts-of-interest rules under the control of the President himself. You know, the one with a crypto currency company?

Well, Senator Tim Scott, who makes Samuel Jackson's character in "Django" look like MLK, said this...

“Let’s remind ourselves President Trump has done something no other president in the history of our country said ‘yes’ to,” Scott said, “which is complying to the ethics strategy and standard for all elected officials. We’ve never had a president ever say ‘yes’ to that issue, that question, so it’s good news.”

So, if new left Democrats can't come out foursquare in favor of Thanksgiving, and Republicans are afraid to cite actual history, how in the world do we agree on facts, information? If both sides are either afraid of their own voters, or afraid of seeming too mainstream, then we truly are cooked.
