Good News for E-Harmony
To quote Anthony Newley, "Stop the world I want to get off."
Let me start this missive with some good news for the men of America. There are two members of Congress who, with the right lighting, are the Kardashians of MAGA, Lauren Boebert of Colorado and Nancy Mace of South Carolina.

Yeah, OK, so, Mace is a bit vindictive toward former boyfriends, calling one a pervert in an actual congressional hearing. I mean, it's one thing to have your performance as boyfriend material given a thumbs down on Facebook, but the Congressional Record? Anyone can look that up.
And Boebert has a demonstrated talent for stick shifting, as it were, especially during a Broadway show.
So, what's the good news for American males who might be tempted by these two? Well, it is reported, though not confirmed, that Congresswoman Boebert has had affairs with three of her congressional aides, two of them women. Though it must be pointed out, she vehemently denies playing for the other team. I was a little disappointed, I confess, until I noticed her resemblance to a character the talented Andrea Martin played on the old SCTV comedy series, Edith Prickley...

As for Congresswoman Mace, she says she is out of the game altogether. From TMZ...
"I turn everybody down. I just, I don’t know, I don’t know that I’ll ever date again. I don’t know. I’ll be single the rest of my life.”
Given her recent antics in airports and elsewhere, I'd say we all dodged a bullet there.
And besides, spending a romantic candlelit dinner talking endlessly about kids going trans or something can take you right out of the mood.
Meanwhile, in other news this week, the President's penchant for renaming continues apace. At the United Nations this week, after talking about his indecision over whether to consign Iran to the bowels of hell, or simply take over Cuba, he talked about AI.
Wait, what? Oh, yes, I know. Cuba? Firstly Why? And secondly, Why?
As for AI, in which his family is deeply invested and thus his interest is laser-focused, he suggested a name change...
To be honest, if he was going to offer new nomenclature, I'm surprised is isn't simply "America Intelligence."
He also said the war with Iran, and the oil price hikes it has engendered, will be over soon. One way or another, victory is in sight, and I have it on good authority he has finally found an ally to make sure it happens.

In other news, the Prez is intent on selling off a chunk of Yellowstone National Park to a developer. A federal judge has ruled that Elon Musk and Space X can usurp over 600 acres of the South Texas Wildlife Sanctuary for expanding his rocket base. Good news indeed for the whooping crane.
And the building of the border wall has begun just outside of Big Bend National Park in South Texas. Don't worry, they remind us, inside the park we'll only build vehicle barriers for all the traffic in the desert that doesn't actually exist.
The battle over the Kennedy Center continues, and the President decided that CNN, MSNOW and Politico weren't servile enough and has had them banned from the White House. In an emphatically Putinesque move, their passes to cover events in the Oval Office, including the weekly cabinet goober smooch, have been revoked. Some Republicans have been spouting the usual defenses, all of which were choreographed and released in a scoop that revealed the talking points memo.
One of them is the decidedly fictional claim that President Biden banned over 400 news organizations from the White House. Firstly, I don't think there are actually over 400 in the world. Secondly, the Biden White House merely tightened the requirements for a so-called "Hard Pass" that allows almost unlimited access, and the 400 journalists who didn't have the qualifications for that, could still get a so-called "Day Pass" to cover any event. No one missed anything.
Gas prices are soaring now, and the standard reply I see in online comments is, "Well, they were higher under Biden." And actually, that's true.
The nation’s average price of gasoline has risen 18.5 cents over the last week and stands at $4.44 per gallon, according to GasBuddy® data, and indeed, it did reach $5.01 in June of 2022 under Biden. Of course, that was after Russia invaded Ukraine and the aftermath of that Covid thingy. But by December of that year, were were back to around $3.20 a gallon.
Yeah, but this is a self-inflicted wound, although, to be fair, it will no doubt go down when the Iran idiocy ends, assuming the Wicked Witch can do-do that voodoo she does so well.
Stay tuned. Natalie will keep us all informed.
